Who better to reveal the pieces your party season wardrobe won’t be complete without and set the new season trend agenda than our Creative Director Rebecca Farrar- Hockley? Read on for her tips on cool Christmas dressing, present-buying and how to beat the January blues…
Rebecca, which Kurt Geiger pieces are you craving for Christmas…
A great pair of slouch or OTK boots. I can’t decide between Carvela Kurt Geiger’s 'Scrunch' and Kurt Geiger London’s 'Violet' – as much as I adore the silver metallic version, I’ll leave them to the lovely Lily Donaldson!
And what will you treat your friends to?
Great accessories are a failsafe friend gift so I’d go for the Kurt Geiger London 'Violet' tote in her favourite colour or the classic black 'Kensington', and the Kurt Geiger London faux fur 'Poppy' scarf, which is as cool as it is cosy. For my guy friends, it has to be our classic 'Donnie' sneaker. The minimalist design means it goes with everything, and suits all styles and ages. White is guaranteed to keep everyone happy, but the new navy suede version is pretty cool too. If smarter shoes are their thing, you can’t go wrong with the 'Frederick' Chelsea boot.
What are the key trends this party season?
It’s all about rewriting the party dressing rulebook! Sky-high strappy heels are no longer the only option – but if you love them, wear them. From elevated flats like Carvela Kurt Geiger’s 'Lottie' to evening boots like Kurt Geiger London’s 'Smile', the options are endless. Courts are having a moment again too, but it’s all about details that elevate this classic like the ombre effect on Carvela Kurt Geiger’s 'Alice' or the sexy polka dot mesh of Kurt Geiger London’s 'Sooty'. Forget the dress code - go for whatever suits your individual style and mood. As always for winter, opulence is in abundance – think brocade, diamantes, pearls – and channel the look with the tweed 'Kensington' bag or Carvela Kurt Geiger’s 'Gentry' booties.
What are your go-to party shoes and accessories?
I like to use accessories to add a little edge to evening outfits, so this season I’ll be wearing the white 'Ride' boots with everything from a tailored suit to an elegant dress. The Mini Velvet 'Love' Kensington and 'Axel' bags are offbeat alternatives to the usual clutches. When the occasion calls for something more classic, I’ll go for the Carvela Kurt Geiger 'Acid' courts – they’re black, so they’ll go with everything, but the cross strap and studded detail give them a little something extra.
What will you treat yourself to in January to beat the post-Christmas blues?
Since I’ll probably be living in boots until at least March, I’ll be updating my collection with our spring take on the slouch style in buttery-soft tan suede. Fashion trainers are my other go-to for a new season fix you don’t have to wait months to wear – Carvela Kurt Geiger’s 'Lamar' is our best-selling style, so we’re adding some fresh new season colours to the range that I think you’ll love, and 'Ludo' is super cool.
Finally, which trends can we look forward to at Kurt Geiger next season?
Fashion trainers are going nowhere, which I couldn’t be happier about. As well as the new Lamar colours, look out for new additions to our ever-expanding trainer edit. The white sneaker reigns supreme, and we have everything from sleek minimalist styles to diamond encrusted statement designs. Spring boots will be huge news – low cut, Western-inspired styles make the perfect transitional buy – and, later in the season, it’s all about the new take on the mule and high-fashion sliders.
